The Central Area is a mix of older neighborhoods with a historic college, museum, art galleries, and small businesses. Central Colorado Springs consists of older historic homes and subdivisions which were developed from early 1900's. Homes which line the streets of Nevada and Wood Avenues near the downtown area are among the most stately in the region. In contrast, the remaining central areas consist of small to medium size homes set on wide, tree-lined streets.
