Lying on the boundaries of the Austin Bluffs Open Space with Pulpit Rock as its closest neighbor, Erindale has the wilds of Colorado right at its doorstep. With five miles of developed trails Pulpit Rock presides over the Interstate 25 corridor where motorists casually glance its way. But more spectacular is when Pulpit Rock is scaled where sweeping views of Pikes Peak, Rampart Range, the city and the foothills unfold below. This is a great trail for the inexperienced hiker as it is hard to get lost in this wide-open space dotted with yucca, wildflowers and ponderosa pine. Mountain bikers love the web of single-track social trails. Three open spaces have been combined to form the Austin Bluffs Open Space—Pulpit Rock, University Park and Austin Bluffs. Altogether they cover 586 acres, making this one of the largest open space parcels in the city. The lower part of the trail to Pulpit Rock is handicap accessible. Hiking, horses, bikes and leashed dogs can all share in the anticipation of the great outdoors—Colorado style.
While secreted in its enclave, Erindale is adjacent to every amenity that Colorado Springs offers. Chapel Hills Mall is minutes away. There are fitness centers and spas, while Pine Creek golf course is 10 minutes away where the finest of greens and clubhouse await. Interstate 25 is easily accessible with a direct route to the Air Force Academy or for traveling to Denver. Woodmen provides an east/west route to the Powers corridor.
Education for the families of Erindale is with Jefferson Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Holmes Middle School and Coronado High School. Located close by to Erindale is the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs' campus. Other higher education and vocational colleges are plentiful and within a short commute to this centrally-located community.
