Stretching along the western foothills, Skyway is bordered on the south by North Cheyenne Cañon Park, Seven Falls, and the prestigious Broadmoor Hotel and adjacent residential area. To the north lies Bear Creek Regional Park as well as Red Rocks Park and Garden of the Gods Park. This 1,600-acre park offers beautiful waterfalls, rock formations, wildflowers, wildlife, picnic areas and hiking trails This park was a donation to the city of Colorado Springs by founder, General William Jackson Palmer. At the end of the cañon is Helen Hunt Falls. There are many miles of prime hiking as well as mountain biking trails throughout this area. North Cheyenne Cañon meets South Cheyenne Creek near the Starsmore Discovery Center where activities abound for guests of all ages. Cherished as a local landmark for many years, the Starsmore Discovery Center is an original stone building that was home to the Starsmore family and moved to its present location in 1992.

Bear Creek Regional Park is within walking distance of many of the homes in the Skyway area. Within the park is the nature center, a dog park, picnic areas, and miles of user-friendly trails. The nature center is located at the west end of the park. Within the park are scrub oak thickets, Cottonwood riparian communities, ponderosa pine forests, meadows, a creek and protected wildlife species. Interpretive programs, special events, guided and self-guided tours, and media presentations are offered all year. 

School District 12 serves the Skyway area where 90 percent of the Cheyenne Mountain High School graduates attend colleges and universities with $11 million in scholarships offered. District 12 has been the highest performing school district in Colorado, based on the Colorado Department of Education's ranking of CSAP performance since 2006.
