The Woodmoor Community Center is located in “The Barn.” which was originally a dairy built around 1938. In 1945 Marion and Neva Williams operated a ranch with a dairy herd out of The Barn and used the adjoining pond—what is now known as Lake Woodmoor—to water their thirsty herd. By 1964 The Barn evolved into the anchor of Woodmoor. The vision of Woodmoor became reality with its winding roads leading to large lots and priceless views of Pikes Peak and Mr. Herman. Fencing is discouraged and property owners are encouraged to preserve the natural beauty, trees and wildlife that roams throughout the region.
Along with this vision comes the Wood moor Pines Golf and Country Club, a full-service, private country club with unparallel views of Pikes Peak and a sea of lodge pole pines. The serene beauty that surrounds this club can only be called magnificent. The club has an 18-hole championship course designed by J. Press Maxwell and is known for its big tree-lined fairways challenging even the most seasoned golfer. There are four exceptional tennis courts; a heated indoor pool with 6 lanes of 25 yards, a diving board, water aerobics and private or group lessons. The pool house even has a retractable roof. The heated outdoor pool is 11 feet at its deep end and 3.5 feet at the shallow end with a lap lane. Also, there is a heated kids pool and an outside patio with grill and food service.
Lewis-Palmer District #38 prepares its students to be successful learners, productive citizens and caring contributors to society. Nearby the new Monument Marketplace is filled with fine retailers, banks, and great dining. The town of Monument boasts of several fine restaurants and shops as well. Situated so close to Interstate-25 Woodmoor's residents are in close proximity to both Colorado Springs to the south and Denver to the north with all the urban comforts city living presents. A trip into the mountains is a short drive away.
