FLYING  W  RANCH      NOW JUST A MEMORY.

Our hearts are sadden at this time as we reflect on the devastation of the Waldo Canyon fire with two people dead, 346 homes in Colorado Springs were lost, and the burning to the ground of a 60-year-old institution, the Flying W Ranch.

While the Mountain Shadows neighborhood was hit the hardest with weather conditions that created a firestorm, other areas like Cedar Heights, Cascade, Green Mountain Falls, Woodland Park, Peregrine and the Air Force Academy were spared due to the valiant efforts of the firefighters.Utilities crews worked long hours as well protecting the city’s utilities resources and restoring power, water and gas to those most affected by the fire.

While this tragedy…

GREAT THINGS IN COLORADO SPRINGS!

Pikes Peak Urban Gardens, a non-profit, was formed in 2007 in response to need for more community gardens in the region. While Denver boasted of 100 such Gardens, in 2007 there were only 3 here. Since then during the past two seasons, PPUG  has helped established 6 community gardens, 1 large demonstration garden, 2 micro farmers market, 2 urban farms and offered numerous educational outreach programs to schools and community groups.

PPUG is seeing record numbers of people interested in learning how to grow their own food. Are you interested in cultivating and planting your own backyard garden or would you like to become a volunteer with an already established garden?  Then check out www.ppugardens.org for more…

Dear Janet and Steve,

I want to thank and you and Diane so much for all the help you gave us in
buying our new home. From the start in 2010, when we decided to move to
Colorado Springs from Australia your service was far and above the best we
could have expected.

Being a bit knowledgeable on the internet, I found you and your website with
a Google search. What was important to me and stood out was that you were a
personalized business, one-on-one and not a corporate number cruncher. You
asked me the right questions and profiled Gail and me to a tee. Then set out
finding the right home for us; not the one we envisioned but now the

Home Inspection Advice

I saw this article and thought it was most appropiate. Take a look.

Don't lose real estate buyers over minor fixes

DEAR BARRY: Our home is in escrow. We disclosed every defect we could think of, but the buyers relied on their home inspector. The inspector didn't find any serious problems, but he did list a number of cosmetic defects and routine maintenance repair needs, such as peeling paint, loose exterior trim, a cracked window and a damaged bedroom door.

All of these were listed on our disclosure statement, so we thought the buyers would be satisfied with the inspection report. But they are demanding that we fix every single defect or they won't buy the property. This seems very unfair to us. What do your recommend? --Angie

DEAR ANGIE: The days…

home_inspection_165 HOME INSPECTIONS!

What is a "Home Inspection"?

A home inspection is an objective visual examination of the physical structure and systems of a home, from the roof to the foundation. Having a home inspected is like giving it a physical check-up. If problems or symptoms are found, the inspector may recommend further evaluation.

What does it include? The standard home inspector's report will review the condition of the home's heating system, interior plumbing and electrical systems; the roof, attic, and visible insulation; walls, ceilings, floors, windows and doors; the foundation, basement, and visible structure.

Why do you need a home inspection? The purchase of a home is probably the largest single investment you will ever make. You should learn as…
